“I like hearing more about how current best practices in bilingual assessment and intervention can be implemented using the requirements we follow in Texas.”

“I’m happy to see that a portion of my conference registration goes to support scholarships for bilingual students who will be future SLPs.”

Scholarship Recipient

"I received a TOMMAS scholarship in 2010. At that time I was attending Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock Texas where I had the opportunity to work with a variety of clinical needs including bilingual, cleft palate, cochlear implant, and aphasia.

I now work for Northside ISD and predominately conduct speech-language evaluations with bilingual elementary students. The students range in age from 3 years through 5th grade and vary in both their English language proficiency, and native language skills.

Within those bilingual students I have the opportunity to experience special populations that include cleft palate, cochlear implant, autism, and Down's Syndrome. I also work part time with adult populations in various rehab facilities in San Antonio."
